Margo Glenfall was the greatest swordsman of his generation and the father of Alicia Glenfall.
History
Twenty-five years before the story, Margo, considered a “once in a millennium talent” who had never lost a match, won the tournament held in Esleberg, capital of Eslinn, defeating his own teacher Drel in the final. The King of Eslinn named him Sword Master and gave him the family name Glenfall, and the King of Hiden handed him a newly finished ultimate treasure, telling him it would take on the soul of the first great beast it slew.
Margo chose the dragon of the North, a minion of Vordin. On the expedition to the Dragon Snowfields the dragon bit off his leg when he slipped on a hidden stone, ending his path as a hero. Drel finished the dragon with Margo’s sword, which became the Black Dragon.
Margo then retired to Sogo Village, living in secrecy and raising Alicia. His wife died after a landslide during a long rain. He trained Alicia in swordsmanship from childhood, teaching her to strike with her hips, to train her legs above all and to trust her sword.
Two years before the story Drel came to Sogo and killed him. With his last words Margo told Alicia not to seek revenge, since war was the furthest thing from the path of a hero, and to go and see what lay beyond the world.
