Naie Chiffonlits is a High Wizard of Boelate’s army and a graduate of the Solsein Seminary. She has a diamond-shaped magic crystal implanted in her forehead and wears iron gauntlets.
Abilities
Naie practices crystal magic. Her crystal draws on the power of an iron-shelled turtle from the East and lets her control magnetism: she can pull and push iron, fly by riding an iron axe or rake, hijack carts by their iron axles and spin iron tools into a ring that blasts away anything it touches. Her arms and gauntlets are iron, so the power fails against things that are not.
History
Naie was present when Drel killed Margo Glenfall. She attacked Shiron with Meynard and seized Nelluru and Luna, but Nelluru smashed her through a wall with iron beds and the townspeople captured her. Learning that Drel was serving another Devil Beast King, she flew Alicia to the capital and, at the climax, threw a boulder at Drel and helped bring him down.
As the only one of Drel’s direct wizards to return, Naie was sent by Emperor Beis to Solsein as a teaching assistant and spy. She has only hazy memories of the crystal transplant: dark rooms, blood and a hole with a spiral staircase. Terrified of “Cren” and “Alissa”, she agreed to help Alicia, and after Clevatess read her mind she called him “Master”. During the night of the black tower she protected Mary Maryweather from the shadow wolves, admitting that “once, we all aspired to be heroes”.
After the incident Alicia sent her to tell the Emperor about the “secret chamber” on the new island, credited to “his hero”, and Naie gladly flew off, swearing never to come back.
