The Royal Furnace of Hiden is the forge where the kings make magic steel and ultimate treasures. It is called the oldest tool of magic in the world, and its secret is coveted by everyone researching sorcery.

Function

Only someone of royal blood can open its door, and it can only be operated by the heir who carries the royal line most strongly. When no king is present it sleeps until the next one appears, so its glow after the fall of Hiderat told T’ala that her son was alive. Two heat towers rise above it. Its entrance is inscribed with ancient script.

At the naming ceremony each heir’s true name is carved into the furnace, binding them to its will. According to the late king, those who would be king are turned to ash inside and remade as its caretakers. The true master of the furnace was a Book of Toa, the book of the third passage, “The Furnace”.

History

After the fall of Hiderat, the possessed corpse of the late king opened the furnace and tried to throw Luna into it. Clevatess saved Luna, drove the light out with his shadows and found the book, which he carried away. In the Legend of the Hero, the Furnace is where the hero’s weapon is forged with flames that house divine power. When the holy sites were restored, the furnace reappeared in its original golden form, and its gate led to the Chamber above the clouds.
