Summary
Klen stores the Waterfall Slicer away so it will not draw attention, promising to return it when Alicia needs it, and Alicia takes new gear from the Crows’ stash. Nelluru turns out to be extremely strong. On the road, a young man named Gart attacks them, believing Klen is the man he was sent to kill. Gart is a devil beast in human form serving Zavthier, another Devil Beast King, and Klen poses as a mere servant of Clevatess.
Gart explains that young devil beasts are disappearing from the West and that Zavthier is close to retaliating against humans. Alicia tells them about the wizards of Boelate and General Drel, the man who killed her father. Meanwhile, Rhode Royes of Eslinn hears from his aide Miquel how the fight against Drel’s army is going, and Drel, learning that a royal baby survived, sends the wizard Meynard to take him.
