Mary Maryweather, nicknamed “Mary Mary”, is the class representative of the fifth year at the Solsein Seminary and one of its top students. She watches outsiders closely and hates noise.
Her great-aunt left most of a huge estate to her, and the ugly inheritance fight that followed made Mary long for the power to “shut up all the noisy ones”. Her rune Clear Mirror, Still Water forces everything in its domain into tranquility; spread thin it blocks sound and wind, and compressed it can stop a heart. She also binds targets with chains (“Shackles”) and golden “Sticky Threads”.
Mary subdued Nathan Franc after he turned into a beast, explaining the fate of failed trial-takers to Alicia. During the night of the black tower she led the evacuation group with Naie, fought Clevatess’s shadow wolves and collapsed. When she woke, her rune was gone.
