Andrew Whip is the third-ranked student of Solsein’s fifth year, calm and merciless towards everything except plants. He keeps a hidden greenhouse of rare, carnivorous and poisonous plants beneath his dorm, lit by an eternal lamp.
His rune Garden Words lets him hear the voices of plants and command them. Seeds he spreads in advance grow over his targets, and he can raise strangler figs, a “Root Giant” and great trees, or summon giant glowing pruning scissors. He wants to fill the world with flowers.
Andrew caught Alicia while she was trapped in the body of a small beast and fed her to his carnivorous plant, which she burst by letting it drink her Devil Blood. On the Chancellor’s orders he later tried to behead her and fought Rhode Royes, listening to the “whispering voice” of his rune, until his body gave out from overusing his power and Gart intervened.
